Fruit & Herb Infused Water – Three Ways

It is so important to keep your body hydrated. I try to drink half my body weight in ounces of water a day and after a while, plain water leaves something to be desired.

Last summer I bought a super cool water bottle off Amazon that comes with little baskets that screw onto the lid that you can put fruit in to infuse your water with natural flavoring! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. This inspired me to go to Pinterest (duh!) to get ideas of fruit pairings that would be yummy to try. Much to my surprise (not really!) there were tons of ideas. And not just ideas of fruits that complimented each other but fresh herb and fruit pairings as well. I was intrigued so obviously I had to try some and let me tell you…mind blown. I couldn’t believe how flavorful and refreshing these combos were!

The ideas are literally endless and they really help curb my minor (haha.) diet coke addiction. Plus once you finish the water you have some tasty fruit to snack on…one of those killing two birds with one stone kind of situations am I right?! I have experimented with sparkling water and flat water. Both are good but with flat water you can let the flavors “marinate” for a period of time to infuse all that goodness into your beverage. Sparkling water tends to go flat pretty quick but I do enjoy making mocktails with it!

Here are three surprising combinations that I am loving currently. For optimal flavor combine the ingredients with the water in a pitcher and let sit in the refrigerator overnight. If you are pressed for time you can also add the ingredients to a glass or water bottle and take it to go! It will still be delicious I promise! A great way to help release the oils in those herbs is to gently rub it between your hands to loosen it up and warm it up slightly and it will release the flavor into the water easier (a useful tip if you find you are making these last minute!). Another thing to remember is that less is more with the herbs I used. The pictures below depict a lot of rosemary and thyme in those glasses but truly you don’t need that much I just think they look pretty for the photos with more!

Pineapple & Rosemary

We love rosemary so much at my house that it grows year round in our garden. I use it in a bunch of savory dishes especially around the holidays. However, pairing it with an extremely sweet fruit like pineapple gives it a whole new dimension!

Raspberry, Lime, & Mint

Can we say mojito anyone? Raspberries are one of my favorite fruits. And adding lime and mint to anything instantly takes the flavor to a while different level!

Peach & Thyme

I love a good peach. I love peach tea, peach cobbler, peach tarts…you get the idea. I even love adding frozen peaches to my morning smoothies and shakes! To me peaches have the perfect sweet to tartness ratio and thyme is such a versatile herb. This is truly a match made in heaven!

Which one is your favorite? If you try any of these combinations or have any delicious combinations that you love I would love to hear from you! Find me at Facebook @learningtobloom and Instagram @sbirklid

I would love to try the raspberry/line/mint infusion. My go to is cucumber and lemon. Cucumber water is so refreshing.
