Current Nighttime Routine

During the work week it is important to me to have a nightly routine to help me wind down before I go to sleep. In the past I would go to bed a various times during the week and a lot of times I would lay in bed scrolling through my phone and before I knew it the time would be 11 pm and I would still be wide awake. In an attempt to reduce that screen time and get a better night sleep I have implemented this night-time routine. It’s still a work in progress but I already am feeling more relaxed in the evenings!

I try to go upstairs at around 9 pm in the evenings during the work week. I like to create a really comforting and relaxing atmosphere. I turn my nightstand lamp on and make sure the main bedroom light is off. You know how much I love a good candle and how relaxing an atmosphere it can create so sometimes I will light a candle on my nightstand. The one I am currently loving is the Voulspa Pomegranate Blood Orange!

After the atmosphere is set I head into the bathroom to take care of my skin and brush my teeth. I find this part of the evening to be the most relaxing. Currently I am using a sample face wash that Ipsy sent me. I have been in the market for a night face wash for a while and this one so far doesn’t seem to be doing the trick but I will finish the tube to make sure. If you have one to recommend, I would love suggestions! This is the Milk-to-Foam Coconut Milk Pure Mild Cleanser.

Three times a week I like to use a face toner and this Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner is one of my favorites. I have always loved Neutrogena products and this one is so light on the skin and doesn’t dry it out like other toners I have used. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean.

Next I have been LOVING the Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Night Cream. It is a very thick and luxurious formula but it doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy at all. It leaves it feeling moisturized and I wake up in the morning still feeling like my skin is soft and nourished.

The eye-cream I am using the L’Oreal Paris Eye Defense. It’s age defying and helps reduce puffiness and diminish dark circles. It feels really soothing on my tired eyes this time in the evening.

Lastly, I got this Tarte Maracuja Oil sample from my December Ipsy bag and I have just started using it. Oil sounds a bit scary if you put in on your skin but this one helps lock in that moisture and it absorbs quickly. It also smells delightful which is always a plus!

I always get chapped lips and dry hands this time of year. I use the Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm and this Nourishing Hand Cream from Bath and Body Works that smells like tangerines. Unfortunately this is no longer available and I’m almost out πŸ™

After all of that is done I get into some comfy pj’s and get under the covers. I like to have a cup full of water on my night stand in case I get thirsty during the night. If I still need to wind down I reach for my journal or reach for the book I’m reading which currently is A Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable. The goal is to sleep at or around 10 pm.

What do you like to do to wind down in the evening? Do you have any skincare suggestions for me to check out?
