5 Tips For Starting A Healthy Lifestyle
Sometimes the idea of losing weight or making the transition to a healthier lifestyle can feel really overwhelming. I get it. There is tons of information to sift through and most of it contradicts the others. They always say to try things out until you find something that works for you but where on earth should you start?!
One thing that I tell myself when I start to get that overwhelming feeling is that I don’t have make every change I want to make all at once and also that the changes I want to make don’t need to be huge. Sometimes, the simple and small changes are the ones that can make all the difference towards achieving your goals.
I am still learning everyday but starting with small changes first has helped point me in the right direction to achieve the health and fitness goals I have set for myself. Here are 5 simple tips to help you start your journey to a healthy lifestyle.
1. Never skip a Monday workout. Working out on Monday always makes me feel like I am getting my week off to a great start. I feel more motivated to workout as well as make better food choices throughout the week.
2. Keep your body hydrated. I can’t stress this enough. It is a small and simple change that you can make today and it will make a huge difference in how you feel. You can see my post on how to drink more water here and also see my post here on some yummy fruit and herb infused water ideas to get you inspired!
3. Mix up your workouts. Try different things to see what you like! Switch up the places you go to do workouts. I do at home workouts, I have a gym membership, we like to go for hikes, and I walk almost every Saturday with my dad and Aunt Theresa. If you get bored easily switching things up will keep you more interested and more motivated to get your body moving!
4. Plan and prep. I know I’ve talked about this too a lot but it is so key to prepare fresh food at home and have it accessible for the week ahead. Try new foods and experiment with different recipes that are easy to throw together full of whole delicious foods. You can’t out train a bad diet so set yourself up with success by planning and preparing and you’ll begin to see results!
5. Set Goals. Set as many or as little as you like. Make them measurable by setting realistic milestones on your journey. I also recommend setting goals in different areas of your life so you’re not focusing so much on one area of your life. Remember that there are going to be set backs but if you have a plan it is easier to get back on track when one comes along!
