Summer Reading List

One of my favorite ways to relax this time of year is to grab a great book and a glass of great wine and sit out on my back patio and read. Reading has always been something I really enjoy and buying books has also been an enjoyable activity since the time I started making my own money in high school. It’s difficult for me to walk into a book store and walk out with nothing. I recently discovered the delights of the thrift store “library” for dirt cheap deals on hundreds of titles and I may or may not have gone a little crazy a few months ago…a little. On top of my new thrift store bookshop phase I also went on a shopping spree on Amazon for books. Some people buy shoes, and I buy books.

My bookshelf is pretty full at present and it made it really difficult to narrow down a Summer reading list but the selection I have made I am extremely happy with and I cannot wait to devour these books over the course of the rest of the season and beyond. What is on your Summer reading list?

The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman

I started this recently and it is beautifully written. Alice Hoffman has the ability to paint such a vivid picture with her words that it is easy to transport yourself into her stories. Looking forward to reading further!

Brave Enough by Cheryl Strayed

Ever since I read Wild a few years ago I have longed to read more of Cheryl Strayed’s work. This is a book of inspiration quotes. A light, easy, and inspiring read!

Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morris

I watched this movie for the first time earlier this year and I loved it so much I decided to read the book!

I’ll See You In Paris by Michelle Gable

I recently finished her book A Paris Apartment and I loved it. I saw this on Amazon and I had to pick it up and since I will be headed to France at the end of the Summer I thought it was a very appropriate read! πŸ™‚

Torch by Cheryl Strayed

What can I say? I find Cheryl Strayed to be an amazing author and I love how much of her own life experiences influence her work. This is her first novel and I am thrilled to have picked this up recently!
