5 Things In April
When I first started this blog I was trying to do a favorites post once a month. My life at the moment doesnโt really allow a lot of time to try different products and I NEVER can seem to remember to write down things that I am using consistently. One thing though that I can look back on at the end of the month is memories that have been made or things that helped make the month that much better. And so the idea for another monthly post was born called โ5 Things Inโฆโ Just as the title suggests, I am looking back on the past month and picking 5 things that made it memorable.
Here are 5 things from the month of Aprilโฆ
1.My high school friend Erica married her longtime love Jared in a beautiful Saturday afternoon ceremony and a really neat brewery and taproom called Naked City Taphouse in north Seattle. It was a lovely afternoon spending time with old friends and celebrating the happy couple!
2.I have talked a lot recently about podcasts and over the last few months I have been listening nonstop! The ones in particular that I have been listening to the most are:
- The Healthcode โ This is the new podcast by Youtuber Sarah from Sarahโs Day and content creator Kurt Tilse. They talk about healthy lifestyle, career, and relationships. They have great chemistry in her Youtube videos and on this podcast as well!
- Unexplained โ If you love a good mystery this podcast is for you. Iโm not talking about murder mysteries (although I love those too); Iโm talking about paranormal and extraterrestrial type mysteries. Richard McClaine Smith is the host and his stories are both beautifully written but also super creepy!
- Put Yourself First โ Kat Horrocks is my new found soul sister. Her podcast is everything self-care and she has some interviews with incredibly inspiring and empowered women.
- Get It Off Your Breasts โ I am a newly converted Emma Gannon fan. I discovered her podcast Ctrl Alt Delete when I first began listening to podcasts and when I found out she was starting a new one with her good friend Liana Bird, I had to listen. Each week with their guests they tackle a mix of modern day issues that get under their skin.
- One Girl Band โ I may not be self-employed as of yet but this podcast is full of useful insight about running a small creative business. I feel inspired after every episode to keep working towards those self-employment goals and getting good tips and tricks along the way!
3. We went on our first hike of the year on the 15th to Rattlesnake Ledge in North Bend, WA. It threatened to rain the whole way up but we only got a few sprinkles. I love being out in the wilderness but I am not a huge fan of walking up hills. I struggled but eventually made it to the top with Jake by my side and the views never disappoint up there. It was a great way to finish that weekend.
4. On the same day that my high school friend Erica got married, another friend from high school had an art installation opening and a poetry reading in Tacoma. Going straight from Seattle to Tacoma is not a short distance but I am thrilled that we were able to make it to Nicole’s event! Her reading was inspiring and went great with her interactive installation. I am in awe of her talent and am so proud of her!
5.Last but certainly not least, I finished planting my vegetable garden this month. There were a lot of weeds to be pulled and dirt to be turned over and seeds and starts to be sewn but I did it! This year we branched out a lot and are trying things we haven’t grown before to see what we can do with them. I so look forward to harvesting from my little veggie patch all summer long!
