5 Things in January
January officially feels like the longest month of the ENTIRE year. As I am posting this there is still 2 days left in the month! Personally, the pace of life has slowed down this month which was needed because work has been crazy busy and I also have been battling a cold in the last week but this month has had so many great things for me to look back on and I am excited to share them today!
Epic Star Wars Marathon
Jake and I started the year off by watching all the Star Wars films. Starting with the original episodes 4-6, then 1-3 and finally we watched 7 and 8 at home before seeing episode 9 in the theatre. Full disclosure I hadnβt watched a Star Wars movie from start to finish until this point, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed them! It was a fun thing for us to do together and I can honestly say that I am a Star Wars fan now!
Body Positive Post
Back on Jan 8th, I published a very important post called βWhy You Donβt Need A New You This Year.β It was something I had been thinking a lot about and thought was especially needed this time of year when we are assaulted with all the diet culture messages telling us itβs time to overhaul our whole life and change our bodies in order to have a successful year. Letβs make an effort to be more kind to ourselves this year and remember that our value is not based on the number on the scale or the tape measure or how many followers we have on social media. The you that you are now is great just as she is!
My New Bullet Journal
I am not new to bullet journaling, but it is something that I always find is hard to stick to. I would watch bullet journal plan with me videos for hours on YouTube but could never seem to find the time to spend on creating the beautiful layouts those people were doing every month. This time around I’m approaching it as more of a tool and taking the pressure off to make a super detailed and themed spread every month. I want to make it a fun activity and I am really enjoying it so far!
My Jamie Oliver Obsession Continues
I am a HUGE Jamie Oliver fan. I have bought several of his cookbooks and am subscribed to his YouTube channel and love watching old episodes of his cooking shows. My favorite one and the one that I watch repeatedly is his series called Jamie at Home where he cooks food that he grows in his garden or sources locally. He makes cooking fun and simple and all the food looks so delicious! I donβt know what it is about watching people cook food that they have grown but it makes me excited about planning my garden for this coming year!
Lincoln Park in West Seattle
Last weekend Jake and I decided to get out of the house and explore a new park we had never been to called Lincoln Park in West Seattle. The day was rainy, and I wasnβt in the best mood to be out in the weather, but it is truly a beautiful spot. There are woods at the top of the park along with ball fields and a playground but then you can walk down and walk along the beach looking out at Puget Sound. It was a muddy, wet, and cold walk but it was nice to get out of the house together. If you are every in the West Seattle area, I highly recommend checking this park out!
