Happy Hosting: Halloween Tablescape
For the second installment of my Happy Hosting series, I decided that a fun Halloween tablescape would be so fun to create. As with my Fall Tablescape, I focused a lot on texture. I started with the table covering. I dropped into Joann to see what fabrics they had available in their seasonal section and found this great vintage looking pattern! I also picked up the black and grey striped fabric that was giving me major Addams Family vibes!
Once home, I started to lay the fabric out on the table to see how it would fit, I had purchased some of this webbing that people usually use to decorate doorways and decided to lay it across the table over the stripes but under the vintage fabric and I LOVED how it added some interest and texture to the table even before I had put any decorations on the table!
For the centerpiece, I knew I wanted to use the faux foliage I had picked up at Michaels at the beginning of September. I wanted it to be tall so I took this clear tall vase that I had from a flower arrangement a few years ago which was a perfect height for the table and the faux foliage. I wanted to add a little more interest so I took these faux cobwebs and shoved them inside the vase and maneuvered it around to hide the bottom of the foliage. I love the way it turned out!
I used the same burnt orange napkins that I had for my fall table and I just folded them into an accordion, folded the accordion in half, and secured it with a black twist tie. I then fanned the longer bottom half out and placed them on top of these awesome black decorative chargers that I picked up at Michaels!
I bought these really cool textured pumpkins at Joann and I knew I wanted to use them for the table because they actually match the vintage fabric really well! I bunched them around the base of the centerpiece fanning out a bit in each direction.
Next I wanted to focus on lighting. I have a dimmer in my dining room so I knew that for a spooky Halloween dinner party, I would want the light very dim or off completely. To add ambiance and also make sure the guests could see I decided candles would be the way to go! The stripe candle holders I actually picked up at the dollar store and I added some flameless candles to them because I wanted to add them near the centerpiece and wanted to avoid a hazard.
These lanterns are old from the Target bargain section I loved the idea of adding them as a table decoration. I filled the bottom with these cute glitter pumpkins that I picked up at the dollar store! The orange candles I have had for years, I added a piece of clear plastic underneath them to avoid getting wax on the table covering, and then these cute bat tealights that I got from Michaels were perfect to add some more light and interest!
I finished the table off with my cute little block pumpkins and a few real ones and I added some more faux cobwebs to the mirror and added some lights around it to add some more light and an orange hue to the room!
