My Porch at Christmas
It’s only in recent years that I have focused more on decorating our front porch for the holidays. It’s not a very big space but I have felt so inspired to make it feel as festive as possible (see my Halloween decor post here)! I am so proud of the Christmas design this year that I thought I would make my porch decorations their own post!
My Christmas decor aesthetic is very Christmas traditional. I love greenery, deep reds, cream and off white, and some natural elements and colors thrown in. Last year on the porch I bought some faux garland from Michaels and started it on the small brick ledge and went up and over the door to the other side of the ledge and to make it look more plumped up I added clippings from our Christmas tree. I loved the way that turned out so much that I decided I wanted to try something similar with real greenery this year!
I went to my dad’s and his neighbors back yards and foraged a bunch of different types of evergreen tree branches. I mean my trunk was full of branches and it smelled heavenly! Once I got it home I trimmed the branches to different sized pieces and used floral wire to attach everything together to lay it out over the ledge. Once I finished the main garland, I tucked more pieces in places I thought could use some extra plumping. YOU GUYS… this garland turned out better than I even dreamed it would be! The real greenery has such a simple and elegant look and once I added the little pops of color and different picks the whole thing just came to life. The lights cast such a pretty glow at night too and accents all the pretty colors. It is so beautiful and festive and I will be really sad when I have to take it down!
Another design element that I really wanted for the porch was a little faux tree. If you watched my IGTV featuring a Christmas decor haul you’ll know that I have a thing for trees of all shapes and sizes and types! I found this one on Wayfair and with a little finesse I think it looks great and it was a great deal! I added a string of fairy lights that we used at our wedding and it’s just such a cute addition to the porch.
The metal snowman was a gift from a former employee and I always put it out here to greet any visitors that may stop by (sadly not very many this year).
And last but not least I added our cute Charlie Brown Christmas doormat and the faux wreath that I decorated last year!
This year has really thrown me for a loop but I found so much joy in decorating and I can’t wait for you to see the rest of my house in my post later this coming week!
