3 Ways to Style a Plus Size Denim Jacket

I love a denim jacket moment! I was much more of a risk taker in high school fashion-wise but I always had a jean jacket in the mix. There was even a Tolo dance where my date and I wore our jean jackets for the night. I have photographic evidence, but we’ll save those for another day!

Denim jackets are such a perfect transition piece for your Spring wardrobe and are so versatile to style. You can throw them on over a dress or over a sweater styled with leggings and anything else in between. I styled mine with a t-shirt dress for Fall a few years ago!

There are also so many different styles to choose from nowadays so there is a style for everyone! Browsing Pinterest is my favorite way to look up inspo but I also love going through what I already own to see how I can switch things up with my own denim jacket!

We’ve come a long way since 1880 when the first recorded appearance of a denim jacket from Levi Strauss was introduced in the United States. Almost every brand has a denim jacket of some sort but my favorite places to look for an affordable one are below:

Outfit #1

I recently thrifted this “Oh La La” tee from Goodwill and immediately wanted to create an outfit for it! I haven’t worn skirts much recently but I will definitely be pairing more of my skirts with my denim jacket this Spring! My denim jacket is from the Ava and Viv collection at Target and I have had it for a few years now. It is one of my favorite transition pieces!

Outfit #2

I love taking a more formal piece and dressing it down. These green dress pants are ones that I have had for a few years now. I bought them at the beginning of my time at my last corporate job. I love the color and with St. Paddy’s Day coming up, they would be perfect for your work outfit that day! Pairing these pants with the denim jacket makes the outfit feel a little more casual but it still makes this the perfect outfit for work!

My uniform for many weekends is a black pair of leggings. They are so comfortable! So, for this last outfit, I knew I wanted to feature my trusty black leggings! By pairing them with my denim jacket, a nicer shirt, and these cute platform sneakers I feel I little more dressed up. This is the perfect outfit to wear for running errands or going out to a yummy brunch! I also love pairing cheetah print with denim. To me, it makes the pattern pop and they just really complement each other!
