DIY Halloween Decor: Candy Corn Cones
Who is a candy corn fan? This girl! I know it’s not everyone’s favorite candy but it sure makes for a cute decoration! This idea is from Pinterest where they used pom poms to cover a cone. Pinterest is my favorite place to go to get ideas for projects! I like to go through my crafting supplies too and this helps me keep an eye out on Pinterest of things that I can make with what I’ve already got! I created this cute headband last year from a pin I saw on my Pinterest homepage.
The pom pom trees are $50 on Etsy! Yikes! So, in an effort to save myself some money, I decided to recreate them in my own way for a lot less. I decided to go a little more subtle with the colors so I can leave them out for the rest of Fall but feel free to go crazy with brighter colors. Here is how I did it!
DIY Halloween Decorations: Candy Corn Cones
Supplies:
- Styrofoam cones of various sizes
- Yarn in Yellow, Orange, and White
- Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue
- Paintbrush

Steps:
- Using a ruler, mark each section of color around the cone. I made the sections of equal width but looking at photos of real candy corn, the middle section seems to be a bit bigger than the top and the bottom but you can decide how you want it.
- Using the glue gun, attach the yellow yarn starting at the bottom gluing in small sections around the cone until you reach your first set of dots. I use the non-brush end of a paintbrush to make sure the yarn is secure to the cone. This makes it so I don’t burn my fingers on the hot glue. Repeat for the other two colors, I made orange the middle section and white the top. For the top section, I made sure to cover the top of my cone by spiraling the yarn.
- When I was finished covering the cone, I went around and trimmed off any thick sections of glue, making sure I didn’t trim the yarn when I could avoid it.
