DIY Halloween Decor: Beetlejuice Garland

One of my favorite movies to watch this time of year is Beetlejuice! It is such a nostalgic movie for me from my childhood. The casting is superb and it’s just one of those movies that gives the fun festive Halloween vibes! I’m also looking forward to the sequel coming out in September of next year!

It’s crazy that I haven’t had any Beetlejuice-themed decorations before this year! This and the project that I am sharing tomorrow are a nod to my love for this movie and I am so excited to have them as part of my collection for years to come! So, in the spirit of the season and my love for this movie, read on to see how to make this super easy garland!

DIY Halloween Decor: Beetlejuice Garland

Supplies:

  • Black cardstock
  • Twine or yarn, or decorative trim
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue & Hot Glue gun
  • Template for letters (PDF is at the bottom of this post!)

Steps:

  1. Print off your letter templates and cut them out. I just used regular printer paper but if you can print them on cardstock that would be ideal.
  2. Trace the letters on the black cardstock. You will need 12 E’s and 3 of every other letter.
  3. Cut out your black letters.
  4. Since I am using decorative trim for this project, it was already cut at a certain length from a fun pack I bought at Joann’s last year. If you are using a spool of twine, measure out your desired end length and start hot-gluing your letters down. Once you are at the end of your first “BEETLEJUICE” measure out the same length at the beginning part of the garland and trim. I laid out my letters backward and made sure when I flipped the garland over it would read correctly. I laid my trim over the letters and adjusted them to make sure they had enough space between the letters and then made sure there were equal amounts on each end. To start, I glue each end letter into place so the ending “E” and the beginning letter “B”. Then I glued from the outside letters to the middle letters, adjusting for space as I went. When it’s done, hang it on a wall and enjoy your handy work!
