DIY Halloween Decor: Ghost Painting

If you have spent any time on Instagram or TikTok in the last few months you will have seen these viral thrifted paintings all over them! I love the idea of upcycling thrifted items and making them into fun decor for the holidays. It keeps everything affordable and it’s easy to upcycle them again for a different project! For my first try at this project, I wanted to pick a painting that wasn’t too big. This adorable little French cafΓ© scene, I found at Value Village for $2.99. Due to the low price, I wasn’t worried about messing it up too much.

My painting had some sort of finish on it, so I would recommend something that doesn’t have a finish. The finish required me to go over certain spots with a few coats to get the look that I was going for. Acrylic paint works great for this project. I had a few basic Halloween colors and was able to mix them for different shades. I used a felt tip pen to trace over the letters for vibarncy. For the ghosts, I added some light grey to their sheets to give them dimension. This is such a fun project to try. Check out how mine turned out below!
