Life Lately: October 2023 Yay Blogtober!
What a month October has been! As always it feels like it has gone by too fast. With doing #Blogtober though, I feel like I have been able to make the most of Spooky Season. We have been able to connect and celebrate with friends this month and take part in some festive Halloweeny activities! I am so grateful. Here are the highlights from October 2023!
Life Lately: October 2023 Yay Blogtober!
Jake’s Birthday
The start of October is the best because we celebrate my favorite person’s birthday! We went out to a new Mexican food spot in Kent for dinner and then we came home to have homemade margaritas and an at-home movie night! Jake is my biggest support and it makes me so happy to celebrate him!
Tyanna & DJ’s Wedding
The next day on October 7th, we were invited to Rein Fire Ranch in Ravensdale, WA to celebrate the wedding of my friend Tyanna and her partner DJ! It was such a fun day. The venue is beyond beautiful and the weather could not have been more perfect! It was fun catching up with some old friends and celebrating their love.
Holiday Decorating
I always have so much fun when I get to finally decorate for Halloween! This year I didn’t buy any new decorations. Instead, I challenged myself to make new ones and I was able to share them with you here on the blog! I loved this and it forces me to figure out different ways to style the decor that I already have as well. I think the was my favorite mantle decorating so far!
Connecting with friends
We got together and connected with lots of friends this month. We hung out and had dinner with Amy at her house where we watched a few shows and a movie. Then we got invited over to our friend Kevin’s house for dinner and a catch up with his friend Helen whom we hadn’t seen for a few years. Then, this Halloween weekend, we went out to a comedy show and some bars in North Seattle with our friend Wendy. And I was able to have a lovely video call with my friend Nicole and a separate video call with my friend Kristine!
Annual Pumpkin Carving Party
Every year we host a pumpkin carving party for our friends and their kids. We had our friends Justin and Nora and their kids over and also our friends Calvin & Vicki. We had yummy chili for dinner with salad and cornbread and a fig cake for dessert. Then we carved pumpkins and I was able to save so many seeds to make some roasted pumpkin seeds! Wendy and Kevin came over towards the end of the night and we watched movies and hung out. It was a wonderful evening!
Blogtober!
This has been my second year doing #Blogtober and I had so much fun! Blogtober allows me to make the most of Spooky Season and I have loved sharing my love for the season with all of you!
In the Garden…
This month has been the month of garden clean-up. We have had some beautiful Fall days that made it possible to get work done out in the garden. I did a big preliminary clean-up when I took out the squash, tomatoes, and beans. I left my flowers to see how many more blooms I could get. Unfortunately this last week we had our first frost so I got out in the garden last weekend and took out the cosmos, calendula, marigolds, and dahlias. Things look so empty out there but now I get to dream about what I want to grow next Summer!
