My Favorite Easy Holiday Appetizer
I know I said in my tips for hosting Thanksgiving post that you shouldn’t stress about appetizers. But, if you decide you can’t do without, try this super delicious baked brie! I have been making this appetizer for a few years now and it’s always a hit! The creaminess of the brie cheese mixed with the sweetness of the fig spread and the crunch from the puff pastry combine to make a delicious bite every time!
There are also other combinations you could put inside the puff pastry packet. I think apricot jam would be delicious, pumpkin or apple butter, and even honey and walnuts! It’s easy to prepare and your guests will love it.

Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 8oz wheel of Brie Cheese
- Fig Spread
- Egg
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 400Β° F. If your puff pastry is frozen, let it sit out on the counter to come up close to room temp. About 15-20 minutes. This makes it easier to work with.
- Once the puff pastry is close to room temp, lay it out on the counter and roll it out to make it a little larger. Not too much but you just want it to be able to wrap around your wheel of Brie nicely.
- Place the wheel of cheese in the middle of the pastry and spread the fig jam on the top. Flip the wheel over so the fig jam side is touching the pastry. Then, wrap your wheel in the pastry.
- Place your pastry cheese packet seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the entire pastry packet with an egg wash.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry has puffed up and is a beautiful golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, let it cool for at least 15-20 minutes. You want to serve this at room temperature. If you cut into it while it’s hot, the brie cheese will run all over.
- Serve on a platter with a granny smith apple and some crispy crackers. I like to use raisin crackers the Raincoast Crackers are my favorite but Traders Joe’s has some too! Enjoy!
