Easy Last Minute Thanksgiving Appetizer
Who hasn’t been to a holiday party and seen one of those Kaukauna cheeseballs? They are a favorite at our family holiday parties and until a few years ago, you couldn’t convince me that there were other options for cheese balls out there! Cheese balls are so much more than just cheddar cheese spread covered in slivered almonds. You can make so many variations that cater to what your guests enjoy.
So, a few years ago when we started hosting people at our house for the holidays, I was looking for a different and larger option for our holiday cheeseball. Enter this recipe! It is straightforward, easy, and so delicious. It can easily be made in advance or as the perfect last-minute appetizer! I was hooked on this homemade cheeseball recipe and now it or some variation of it makes an appearance at least once during the holiday season! I hope that you enjoy it!
Easy Last-Minute Thanksgiving Appetizer
Ingredients:
- 2 – 8oz packages of cream cheese – best if its at room temperature
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions chopped
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup slivered almonds chopped
- crackers for serving
Method:
- In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese and mayo.
- Mix in the rest of the ingredients except the almonds until well combined – parmesan, cheddar, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder.
- Lay out some plastic wrap on the counter and dump the almonds on it and spread them out. Add the cheese mixture and roll it into a ball making sure it’s coated in the almonds. I start by using the cling wrap to form the ball and then use my hands to roll it around in the almonds.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Serve on a nice platter surrounded by crackers and enjoy!
