Life Lately: November 2023

What a wonderful November we’ve had! We’ve had lovely Fall weather which lends itself well to sunny and chilly morning walks and garden clean up! November is such a cozy month. It officially kicks off the holiday season with the best meal of the year and there are lots of friend and family time opportunities throughout the month. We got up to quite a lot and it makes me so excited for December!

Life Lately: November 2023

Birthday Dinner for Nora with Friends

To kick off the month, we went to The Lobster Shop in Tacoma to celebrate our friend Nora’s birthday. It was a delicious meal with a lovely view. We got to catch up over dinner and then we went to Ice Cream Social for dessert and then back to our friends Calvin & Vicki’s house to sing some karaoke!

Harry Potter with a First Timer!

Our friend Justin & Nora’s daughter has started reading the Harry Potter series and she asked if we could watch the movies every time she finished a book. So, at the beginning of November, we got together to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for her first time. We had pumpkin spice waffles for breakfast and then some popcorn for the movie! It was a lovely morning and I am so happy to have experienced that with her!

Dinner catch-up with old co-workers

Before we left on our Thanksgiving trip, I was able to go out to dinner with my old co-workers Deanna and Tyanna at The Rock! It was great to catch up since I haven’t seen them since Tyanna’s Wedding at the beginning of October!

Road Trip to South Lake Tahoe

We decided to go spend Thanksgiving with Jake’s mom and stepdad and instead of flying we decided on a road trip! Jake had vacation time that he needed to use so we added a stop in lovely South Lake Tahoe on the way down for two days. What a beautiful place it is! We stayed at a place called the Stardust Inn and it seemed to be in the middle of all the action. We took a walk to a local beach and explored the little town. On our last morning, we took a hike to a historic house on Emerald Bay and took in the gorgeous views! I think we’ll definitely make a trip back for another visit!

Thanksgiving in Nevada

After spending two days in Tahoe, we made our way down to Pahrump, NV for Thanksgiving. We spent time with Jake’s mom and stepdad and then the day after Thanksgiving, we took a trip to Vegas where we met up with Jake’s step-sister for a few drinks! We visited with her again on our way out of town and it was a lovely trip down there.

In the Garden…

This has been the month of leaf cleanup in the yard. We have a ton of leafy trees that drop their leaves all over the yard and it is a necessary chore to rake them all up to save the grass! I used some of the leaves to cover the raised beds so they can break down and add more goodness to the soil over Winter.

What I’m Enjoying at the Moment…

  • The Fall colors
  • Making salads for lunch
  • My new fluffy orange flower sweater!
  • Watching old episodes of Jamie at Home – the best cooking show ever in my opinion!
  • Josie vlogs on YouTube – so excited for Vlogmas!
