Mini Yarn Hat Christmas Ornaments

If you’ve been on any social media platform, you have likely seen some variation of these adorable little mini yarn hats. I love the idea of making several of these to decorate the tree or even making a garland out of them! It’s so easy to mix and match styles with these. You can use whatever color of yarn you have and it is sure to turn out cuter than you can even imagine! The best thing about these is that you only need 3 supplies to make them and I guarantee you have at least one at your house right now!

Mini Yarn Hat Christmas Ornaments

Supplies:

  • Toilet paper or paper towel roll
  • Yarn – I used the same yarn for this project in Blogtober!
  • Cotton Ball or Pom
  • Twine (Optional)

Instructions:

Cut your paper rolls into 1/2″ rings. Then, cut 10″ lengths of yarn.

Fold the yarn in half. Feed the loop through the paper roll ring and thread the loose ends through the yarn loop and tighten to secure. Repeat this step until the ring is completely covered, making sure to feed the loop through the paper ring the same way each time.

Once the ring is completely covered, shove all the loose ends up through the paper ring. Try and keep them detangled. Secure them with the same color yarn. Using scissors, shape the pom at the top of the hat.

Shove the cotton ball or pom up into the hat. This will give it structure. Using a length of yarn, thread it through the hat and secure it in a loop for your hanger. I used the same yarn for one hanger and a bit of twine that I had on hand for the other hanger. Both are cute! I will be making more of these in other colors because I love them so much and I hope you love them too!
