Simple DIY Wrapped Christmas Ornaments
For day 7 of 7 days of DIY Christmas ornaments, I am sharing another fun upcycling project! Like I said yesterday, decorating for the holidays does not need to be expensive. Our social media feeds may say otherwise but I love using the same decor every year and making my own if I want something new. There is so much nostalgia when I open my holiday decor bins every year! If you want something “new”, upcycling is a great way to bring new life to an old decoration.
The nice thing about upcycling is that you likely don’t need to buy a ton of supplies to do the projects! Handmade ornaments or decorations have so much character and some of my favorite decorations are ones that I have made in the past! If you enjoyed these 7 days of DIY Christmas ornaments, let me know in the comments below or over on Instagram! I love hearing from you!
Simple DIY Wrapped Christmas Ornaments
Supplies:
- Old Christmas ornament
- Twine (I recommend a thicker natural twine)
- Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun
- Spray Paint or Acrylic paint (optional to make the ornament match your twine underneath)
Instructions:
- To start (and I did not do this for my project) paint your ornament to match the color of twine you’re using for this project. This will help camouflage any parts that may not be covered all the way. So, if you use white twine, painting the ornament white beforehand would prevent any color from peaking through. This is of course optional!
- Next, start wrapping your twine around the ornament using hot glue to secure it. Repeat until the ornament is completely covered or at a point that you like depending on the look you’re going for.
- Thread twine through the top of the ornament to create the hanger and decorate your tree!
