DIY Gingerbread House Christmas Village
You guys…I think this may be my favorite DIY Christmas craft project I have done in a long time. Normally, I am not a Christmas village fan. I think they are expensive and require so much space to set out every year. This may be a controversial opinion but they just are not my vibe. But, when I saw these cute little house shapes at the dollar tree this year I decided to try and make my spin on a Christmas village.
This project is so easy and fun to do. I got a lot of inspiration when I was creating these cute gingerbread house ornaments! It was so nostalgic using puff paint too! I used to make t-shirts with this as a kid and it was fun to use it in a different way!
DIY Gingerbread House Christmas Village
Supplies:
- Unfinished wooden house shapes (I got mine at Dollar Tree but I found these on Amazon)
- Antiquing Medium (I used this one from Folk Art in nutmeg)
- White acrylic paint
- White puff paint
Instructions:
- To start, use the antiquing medium to apply color to your wooden pieces. Paint a layer on and then using a napkin or paper towel, wipe it off.
- Once the houses are dry, paint the roof pitch of the house pieces white and let that dry.
- Using the puffy paint, apply your gingerbread house designs to your wooden house pieces. I got my inspo from Pinterest for my designs! Let the paint dry for a few hours.
- Set up your village with some lights and cute bottle brush trees! Mine lives on my mantle this year but I love that this make-your-own Christmas village will not take up a ton of space not only when it’s set up but also when it is put away in storage.
