Life Lately: April 2024

It’s hard to believe that April has come and gone already. It feels like time keeps speeding up and I am happy to have this little spot on the internet to document memories I can reflect on. We spent 10 days in the Las Vegas area this month and then we’ve been sick the latter half. We did have a great time though and all in all, it was a great month. Here is what we got up to!

Life Lately: April 2024

Breakfast with my mom & aunt

Early in the month, I went with my mom and aunt to get some answers for my mom regarding her social security. It was a successful visit and we decided to go to breakfast together. It was so nice catching up and it’s not that often it’s just the three of us.

Vacation with our friends and their kids

The first part of our vacation in Las Vegas was with our friends Justin and Nora and their kids. We stayed at this place called Hilton Resorts World which is a really nice place. We made a trip to a lion habitat that houses the lions that used to be at the MGM. They also had a bunch of exotic birds and a giraffe named Ozzie who paints! We then spent the afternoon at the pool which was very nice!

The next day we got up at the crack of dawn to take a bus trip to the Grand Canyon. It was so spectacular. It is the first time I have ever been and I was in awe of just how massive it actually is! It was an all day trip and when we got back we watched the Bellagio fountain show and the volcano show at the Mirage on the way back to our hotel.

The next day we went to the Mandalay Bay Shark Aquarium. We also went to In and Out because Justin has never had it before and then for dinner, we went to the buffet at the Wynn. It was the best buffet I have ever been to! So much delicious food. I don’t usually love buffets but this was top notch!

Jake and I also got to do a little exploring too. We changed hotels to The Signature at MGM for the last few nights in Vegas. We spent some time at the pool and then went to explore Fremont Street. It was nice getting away from the strip for a bit!

Hanging out with Jake’s step-sister in Vegas

After our friends left, we got the chance to spend some time with Jake’s step-sister who lives in Las Vegas. One day we went rollerskating and then out to a late lunch. Then we went out to a few different bars the night after that. It was the first time I have spent any time with her so it was a lovely way to spend our last few days in Vegas.

Visiting Jake’s mom and step-dad

After Vegas, we drove about an hour to go see Jake’s mom and his stepdad. We went to some Hot Springs nearby and spent time catching up. It was a great end to a great vacation!

Lunch with friends

Last weekend, I was finally feeling well enough to head to lunch with some of my old co-workers. We headed to Crockett’s in Puyallup and I had a really delicious veggie sandwich and a pineapple & jalapeno margarita!

In the Garden…

April was another month of starting seeds. I started several types of squash, beans and herbs. I also up-potted my tomatoes and peppers waiting for the overnight temps to get up to where they need to be so I can plant them out!

I also got some onion sets planted our and direct sowed spinach and some more peas!
