6 Tomato Recipes to Make the Most of the Season

It is the beginning of tomato season and I am here for it! I’ve been told that I have loved tomatoes since I could eat solid foods. As an adult, I have learned to appreciate the taste of a homegrown tomato and grow several plants in my Summer garden every year. If you’re not a gardener, farmer’s markets and the organic section at the grocery store are great options too! Today I thought it would be fun to share 6 delicious recipes to help you make the most of the glorious tomatoes this time of year!

6 Tomato Recipes to Make the Most of the Season

Tomato & Bread Salad by Jamie Oliver

I have been such a fan of Jamie Oliver since I was young. I still watch old episodes of Jamie at Home online, usually around when Winter starts. It gets me so pumped for my Spring and Summer garden. I also own the cookbook that goes along with the show and it has the most delish tomato recipes inside! This one is from his website and sounds delightful. I can’t wait to try it!

Tomato Bruschetta by Love & Lemons

I own two Love & Lemons cookbooks and they are some of my favorite vegetarian cookbooks in my collection! Bruschetta done well is one of my favorite Summer appetizers and this one looks so yummy. Where can you go wrong when it comes to tomatoes and toasted bread…am I right? We’re having an outdoor movie night later this month and I think this would be perfect to serve to our guests!

My Ultimate Tomato Salad

This tomato recipe was inspired by the Jamie Oliver show Jamie at Home. I always grow at least two different cherry tomato varieties and one or two larger tomato varieties. I also love growing different types of basil and I have two different types of oregano that grow in the garden every year! This recipe perfectly accentuates the sweetness of tomatoes this time of year!

Heirloom Tomato Galette by Wishbone Kitchen

This recipe went viral last Summer. If you don’t follow Meredith of Wishbone Kitchen then I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Her recipes always look so delicious and she makes cooking feel so approachable. I can’t wait to try this with some of my heirloom beefsteak tomatoes that are coming in the garden!

Best Gazpacho by Julia Moskin for the New York Times

If you like warm tomato soup then I have a hunch you will like gazpacho. Gazpacho originated in Seville, Spain and this recipe looks so good! I love the NYT Cooking section for delicious seasonal recipes. They do require a subscription but it is quite affordable. Love & Lemons also has one that looks good too! Can’t wait to try this out!
