12 Movies to Watch to Get into the Fall Mood

You’ve Got Mail

THE quintessential Fall movie, if there ever was one! I love this movie, and it’s one of my go-tos this time of year before Halloween! It takes place in New York in the Fall and features Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. It’s the kind of feel-good movie we need this time of year!

Harry Potter

I have been a Harry Potter fan since 7th grade and these movies are still some of my go to’s this time of year…or anytime of year really. It’s magical and such a comfort movie for me!

Little Women

The version of Little Women from 1994 was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I had it on VHS and would watch it over and over again. It takes place over many years and it’s just got that cozy factor! The version from 2019 is just as good too! I highly recommend adding one or both versions to your fall movie list!

October Sky

I first saw this when I was in junior high school science class. It is based on the true story of Homer Hickam who is a former NASA Engineer who got into rocketry after the launch of Sputnik. Such a heartwarming movie and perfect for this time of year!

When Harry Met Sally

This is such a classic. I love the chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal and how their friendship and ultimately their love story develops over the years. There are beautiful scenes of them walking among the Fall leaves and the feel of the movie is just warm and welcoming.

Mona Lisa’s Smile

An all-star cast in a cozy setting with all of the Dead Poet’s Society with a feminist twist vibes you could want!

Dead Poet’s Society

I loved Robin Williams in every movie I saw him in. Dead Poet’s Society is one of my favorites. All the nostalgic back-to-school vibes in a heartwarming film. This is one to watch if you’ve never seen it or to watch again if you have!

Mystic Pizza

Set in an idyllic Connecticut town, this movie gives all the Fall seasonal vibes. And what’s not to love about Julia Roberts pre-Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman?

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

A John Hughes classic starring Steve Martin and John Candy, this is a Thanksgiving classic!

The Breakfast Club

Another from John Hughes (probably my favorite), this movie isn’t outwardly Fall since it takes place mostly inside a school library but it gives the back-to-school vibes you can get this time of year!

The Goonies

Looking for action and adventure complete with bad guys and pirates? Look no further than The Goonies!

Practical Magic

Magic and Midnight Margaritas!
