Life Lately: September 2024

It’s the first of the “ber” months and I am here for it! I’ve realized this month why I love writing these posts every month. Not only because it is fun to have the memories, but a lot of times we only remember the big events but this helps me to remember the small things too which I think is so important. Especially when it comes to romanticizing and loving the life you have right now. Creating and remembering special moments in the day to day of your life! Here is what we got up to this September!

Life Lately: September 2024

A day on the boat with friends

To start off the month, we took our friends Rose and Greg out on Lake Washington on our boat. We put in at Mercer Island and drove up through the Montlake Cut to Lake Union. We spent some time swimming and then went to lunch at the Ivar’s Salmon House. It was so fun to be able to park our boat and have a delicious lunch and then be back underway back to Lake Washington! We went swimming some more and really enjoyed the day!

Celebrating Dad’s birthday

My dad’s birthday is at the beginning of September. This year we had him and my aunt over for dinner. We did tacos and for dessert, I made an angel food cake with vanilla ice cream and stewed strawberries. I love celebrating my dad!

An evening at the lake

We had a few really warm days this month so one evening we met our friends at Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley for a swim. Afterward we all went to a brewery called Lumber House Brewery in Black Diamond. We had bbq for dinner and drank some delicious beer and played a round of cribbage. It was such a fun evening.

Seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice is one of my favorite Spooky Season movies of all time. I have loved it since I was a kid and was so excited when I heard that they were coming out with a sequel! We loved it so much that we went and saw it twice this month. The first time just Jake and I and then we drove up to North Seattle to meet some friends to watch it again a week later. It of course isn’t as good as the first one, but I thought it was cute and I loved seeing Catherine O’Hara and Michael Keaton back on the screen!

Bon fire in the backyard

One of my favorite things to do with Jake is hang out in our backyard around our firepit and talk or listen to music. We spent an evening this month doing just that. It was a beautiful night and we had our first Night Owl beers of the Spooky Season!

Decorating for Halloween

Usually I wait to decorate for Halloween until October but this year I decided to decorate early and I am so glad I did. I love this time of year because the house feels so cozy and festive and being able to bring tha coziness a little earlier has been so fun. I think it’s something I am going to do every year going forward!

Birthday bbq for our niece

Our niece turned 13 (I can’t quite believe it!) this month. To celebrate her birthday we went to my dad’s for a BBQ. My brother was able to come and we had a great time there celebrating her!

Catching up with friends

I was able to catch up with a few of my besties this month. My friend Amy was in town from Portland and we were able to hang out for a few hours and catch up. Then, I had a video chat with my friends Emily who lives in Bremerton and Bri who lives in France. It’s always fun to get together with friends even over video chat!

In the Garden…

We had a few wet days this month but I was able to harvest quite a bit. Lots of zucchini, tomatoes, and the rest of the little onions I was able to grow this Summer. I also harvested a few carrots, sweet peppers, and our first jalapenos! We have turned a corner and pretty much the zucchini are done and the tomato plants are looking haggard. The beans aren’t producing like I had hoped and it is coming close to the time that the pumpkins can get harvested! October is the month I usually get out there and take everything out so stay tuned for that over on YouTube!
