How to Make a Spooky Customized Doormat

Welcome to the first day of Blogtober 2024! This is my third year doing Blogtober where I post every single day during October. Spooky season is one of my favorite times of the year and I love coming up with fun ideas of crafts, outfits, snacks, and activities to help you make the most of the season! Today we are starting off strong with this spooky and adorable customized doormat! It is super easy to make and adds a fun touch to your porch decor!

How to Make a Spooky Customized Doormat

Supplies:

  • Plain Doormat (I got mine on Amazon here)
  • White and Black Acrylic or Fabric Paint (I used fabric paint I got on Amazon)
  • Clear Sealer (Amazon)
  • Sharpie
  • Small paintbrush and a stenciling brush (my stenciling brush is from The Dollar Tree)

Method:

  1. Using a piece of paper, I cut out 4 different ghost shapes. Using the Sharpie, I traced them randomly all over the doormat.
  2. Using the small paintbrush and the white paint, outline each ghost. Then, fill in the rest with the stencil brush in a tapping motion. I did 2 coats for each ghost. Let dry for 24 hours.
  3. For the eyes, I dipped the end of a sponge brush in the black paint and dabbed them on each ghost.
  4. Once the black paint is dried, I gave the doormat 2 coats of the clear sealer giving 15 minutes in between each coat.

I’ve got lots more fun DIY’s coming up this month and I hope you’ll follow along! If you liked this project, I would love it if you shared it with someone you know would like it too! And, if you recreate it, I would love it if you tagged me so I can see your creation! You can check out previous Blogtober posts here.
