8 Feel Good Activities for the Rest of Fall & Beyond
Hi friends! Now that Halloween is over and we’re getting geared up for Thanksgiving and Christmas, self-care is more important than ever. It’s a busy season, and I know that it can feel overwhelming at times. It’s a good idea to have some ideas for feel-good activities in your back pocket that you can turn to when it all feels a little much. Some of these are going to look different to different people but here are the feel-good activities that I turn to for self-care during this season!
8 Feel-Good Activities for the Rest of Fall & Beyond
Going for a walk in nature
It’s always a good idea to get out in nature and go for a walk. Walking through the woods is one of the best ways to calm my mind. This time of year, especially, when all of the leaves are changing and the weather is not too hot and not too cold, is the perfect time to go out into nature and enjoy it to the fullest. We went on a few beautiful walks locally last month and I highly recommend the All Trails app to find walking trails near to you!
Bubble Bath
If you’ve been here any amount of time, you know how much I love to light some candles, run a hot bubble bath and relax while either reading a good book or watching some of my favorite YouTubers. Sometimes I will add a face or hair mask into the mix but sitting in the hot water and relaxing is the best! My current favorite creators (listed below) to watch on YouTube make videos that are so cozy and lovely to watch. Here are a few I think you would love!
Gardening
It’s not a secret that I love gardening. It’s my favorite thing to do and it’s an ideal way to spend time outside. Whether it’s planting seeds, transplanting starts, raking leaves, or weeding flower beds, it’s just so calming for my mind. I love beautifying my backyard space as well as the landscaping in the front of our house. I take great pride when everything looks lovely and wild! It brings me so much joy to harvest flowers and vegetables in the middle of Summer after so much preparation and hard work earlier in the year!
Reading
Reading is a great way to escape your current reality and jump into a good story! I just finished a book called A Paris All Your Own which has essays written by authors who have written books that take place in the city of light. I love reading about all of the different experiences each person has in Paris and I’ve added several books to my to be read list afterward! Paris is one of my favorite places I have ever travelled, it was a dream come true to go and then to get engaged there was a dream!
I love when a story makes it easy to transport you to somewhere else from the comfort of your bed or couch! Here are a few books that I have read and loved!
- The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
- Supper Club by Lara Williams
- Brooklyn by Colm Toibin
- The Light of Paris by Eleanor Brown
- Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
- Happy Place by Emily Henry
- The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
- The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Making a meal for loved ones
I know that Thanksgiving and Christmas are the big meals of the season but I’m talking about inviting someone over for dinner on a regular evening. Getting in the kitchen to make a lovely meal and sharing it with friends or family is so fun! I love making it extra special by setting the table and lighting candles and turning on some music, really setting the mood for the evening. It’s fun doing something nice for someone else!
Connecting with friends
Connecting with my friends is something that I need to do more of in the New Year but it’s a great way to clear your mind while catching up with those that are most important to you!
Crafting
I am a craft project girly and this is the perfect time of year to get your craft on. I’ve made so many decorations for Halloween and Christmas over the last few years. The act of creating something with your hands is so calming and the great thing about art is that it doesn’t need to be perfect which takes all the pressure off!
Listening to a podcast
I love a podcast! I listen when I’m at home, at the gym, in the car, or out on a walk. It’s my favorite medium to learn and be entertained. I have a diverse podcast favorites list and if you’re looking for something new to listen to, I highly recommend you try one of the ones below!
