Life Lately: November 2024
November came and went in the blink of an eye it seems. It’s the start of the festive period and I have to admit, I find it hard to get in the festive mood sometimes. Halloween and October is full on with Blogtober and it’s always my favorite time of the year. I think it’s hard not to feel the pressure that comes with the holiday season but I am taking it a day at a time and not putting out as much decor as I have in years past as I am just finding it so overwhelming. November was a lovely month filled with get together with friends and family. Here is what we got up to in November!
Life Lately: November 2024
Dance Recital
Our friend’s daughter has been in dance for a while now and we jumped at the chance to come see her perform at a her dance recital this month. It was a fun evening with great performers dancing to K-Pop music! We were so excited to see her hard work come to life on stage with her friends. It was such a fun evening!
Get-togethers with friends
We didn’t have a Friendsgiving this year, but I was able to get together with friends for some much-needed catch-ups! I met my friend Nicole earlier in the month for a coffee date at Anthem Coffee, a really great coffee shop in Old Town Tacoma. At the end of the month, I headed over to my friend Kristine’s house for a catch-up and a special surprise when Nicole and our friend Caitlin showed up for the get-together too! It had been so long since we got together and it was so fun!
We spent some time down in Oregon this month too and we were able to see our friends Amy and Aaron in Portland. We walked along the river and explored the Saturday Market and different areas in the downtown area. It was so great catching up with them!
Family Baby Shower in Oregon
Jake’s cousin, Riley, invited us to her baby shower this month. It was a pleasant surprise when their invitation came in the mail and we were happy to go down and see Jake’s family and celebrate the new arrival who will be coming in December just before Christmas!
Thanksgiving in Oregon
When we were down for the baby shower we realized it had been almost 2 years since we had see this side of Jake’s family! We decided to head back down to Salem, OR to spend Thanksgiving with them as well. Jake’s uncle Dan and aunt Laura hosted and we stayed the night at his uncle Mike and aunt Kim’s house. It was such a lovely holiday and we loved getting to catch up even more with his family!
In the Garden…
A lot of November was spent cleaning up and putting the garden to bed for the Winter. We mowed the lawn for (hopefully) the last time until Spring and took out the last of the Summer veg. We raked leaves off the lawn and added some of them as leaf mulch over our beds.
Currently, we have carrots, broccoli, kale, cabbage, and parsley growing out there. These plants will last over the Winter months and give us an early Spring harvest! The carrots will likely get harvested and roasted for our Christmas dinner and I am so looking forward to that! We had out first frost towards the end of the month so they should be delicious and sweet by Christmas!
