DIY Decor: Bat Wall Hanging

Admittedly, this wasn’t the project I had planned for today. I usually have a vision of how a project will work, and each step I will take to get my desired effect. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, and the project I originally planned didn’t work out as planned. When I plan Blogtober, I select the projects I want to create, but I also have backup projects planned in case one doesn’t work out, as was the case this time. This backup project was inspired by a decor piece I saw at World Market. It’s not exactly the same, but I love how this one turned out! Take a look at how I created this adorable bat wall hanging below!

DIY Decor: Bat Wall Hanging

Supplies:

  • Bat form (I bought my bat wall hanging at The Dollar Tree)
  • Black Raffia Ribbon (Here)
  • Hot glue gun & glue

Method:

  1. Remove the covering (I suspect they are like pipe cleaners) from your bat form. Remove the eyes (if your wall hanging has them, and any of the little tabs that are on the outline of your form.
  2. I recommend starting by wrapping the middle “body” part of your bat. Use your hot glue to hold the raffia in place as you wrap. There really isn’t a rhyme or reason to how you wrap. Just make sure to cover any holes you see and use the hot glue often to hold things in place, which makes it easier to keep the ribbon taut as you wrap!
  3. Secure the ends and you’re done!
