Blogs That Keep Me Inspired
When I am feeling uninspired there are certain blogs that I gravitate towards to help get me out of a creative rut. I love scrolling back and reading their older posts or posts that I have read and reread tons of times. It feels like a breath of fresh air read the content these ladies write and I hope you love them as much as I do! Things To Remind Yourself Everyday
Sometimes life can get hectic and it’s easy to get stuck in a routine of self doubt, negativity, and feelings of inadequacy. Questions like “What am I doing with my life?” or “Am I good enough?” seem to only add to the anxiety because in those types of moods the only answers are negative ones. I have personally experienced ruts like this and sometimes I have let them linger for longer than I care to admit. But let me be the one to answer those questions above for you; Yes, you most certainly are enough and figuring out what to do with your life can take a lifetime so give…

Huckleberry Chia Seed Jam
Almost every year as a kid we would go up to the mountains with my dad and spend the day picking huckleberries. Last year Jake and I went up with him and brought back a big bucket full of these sweet mountain berries. I have been trying to figure out how to use up and aside from using it on top of my yogurt and the yummy huckleberry sauce on top of my protein pancakes. I think though I have found the perfect way to use them and it is with this chia seed jam recipe. The great thing about this jam is that it isn’t full of the sugar and…

Summer Reading List
One of my favorite ways to relax this time of year is to grab a great book and a glass of great wine and sit out on my back patio and read. Reading has always been something I really enjoy and buying books has also been an enjoyable activity since the time I started making my own money in high school. It’s difficult for me to walk into a book store and walk out with nothing. I recently discovered the delights of the thrift store “library” for dirt cheap deals on hundreds of titles and I may or may not have gone a little crazy a few months ago…a little.…

Truth
Since the beginning I have really tried to make this blog a place of honesty with no judgments. I have spoken so openly about my struggles with body image that it feels a lot like some of the journal entries I have written to myself in the past except its out there for anyone and everyone to read if they so choose. My fear, though, is that I have given a false sense that I am past all of those insecurities when really they are very much present and things that I struggle with on a daily basis. My hope for this blog has always been that it is something…

Lime Coconut Popsicles
I posted last Sunday about how much I love food on a stick. Popsicles are one of my favorite sweet treats especially during the summer. Last summer I decided to buy my own popsicle mold so I could make my own. While I didn’t use it as much last summer I fully intend to go popsicle crazy this summer! For this recipe I put the lime in the coconut and …froze it into a popsicle form. Please tell me someone will get that musical reference! Lime and coconut are truly a match made in paradise. I love the tart lime with the sweet coconut and I know you will too!…

What To Do When You Stop Believing in Yourself
I’ve posted previously about my struggle with body image. Recently I’ve experienced some trouble with self doubt and lack of motivation. Not only have I been pretty lax in my exercise routine and my healthy eating goals but I have unfortunately felt a lack of motivation to create content for this blog. I was feeling overwhelmed with working my full time job during the week, trying to keep up with producing content that I am proud of on here, as well as keeping up with the progress towards my health and fitness goals. The more overwhelmed I get the easier it becomes for me to allow negative thoughts to occupy…

Summer Kebabs
Ask yourself this very simple question…is there anything better than food on a stick during the summer?! Think about it popsicles, corn dogs, kebabs. Magic! I love making kebabs. They are easy to make, the combinations are endless, and they’re filling! I’m trying to get more comfortable with cooking on the BBQ. I haven’t quite gotten a hang of the “low and slow” method. But I think using the grill to make cook these kebabs is a great excuse to practice! If you try either of these kebabs tag me on Facebook or Instagram. And share your favorite kebab combo in the comments below! Teriyaki Chicken and Pineapple For these…

Our Backyard
As a kid I was really lucky to live at a house with a big backyard. My dad has done a lot with his yard over the years and it is still one of my favorite parts of his property in Covington. When Jake and I started looking for a house to buy a few years ago one of our wishes was to have a big backyard where we could entertain guests and plant a garden. I think the second I walked out the back sliding door of this house I was in love. It’s a beautiful oasis in this suburban area that has grown by leaps and bounds as…

Protein Pancakes
One of my favorite childhood memories is on Sunday mornings my dad used to whip us up some yummy pancakes for breakfast. He mastered the Mickey Mouse shape early on and still knows the perfect ratio of huckleberries to batter for the perfect pancake. Most of the time Sunday morning cartoons would be on but we would sit at the table and eat as a family devouring every delicious bite. Our Sunday breakfasts aren’t as often any more and god knows that I can’t eat pancakes like I used to but I cherish those little memories we made as the three musketeers more than my dad will probably ever know.…
