December is arguably my favorite month of the year next to May and October. There is something so magical about it and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy! This is also the month that people start reflecting on this past year and looking forward to a new one. As with every month, I am setting three small and achievable goals for this month to finish my year out strong!

3 Goals for December 2022

1. Schedule my week every Sunday

As a full-time business owner, it’s essential that I schedule my time wisely. For instance, I am notorious for spending extra time on my morning routine or scrolling on social media after I eat lunch extending it another half hour. As a result, my schedule gets pushed back and I don’t accomplish everything I was aiming for that day. Structuring my week helps me to focus and stay on task.

My plan is to sit down for an hour every Sunday and plan my week out. What days am I working on my copywriting business and what days am I working on my blog? In short, I need to have a schedule in order to accomplish what is needed for my blog and my business.

2. Make our bed every day

This is something I have always wanted to do for myself. Making your bed is said to improve productivity, reduce stress, and improve focus. have never been a bedmaker but there is something about it that appeals to me! Firstly, it makes our room look tidy. And secondly, is there really anything like getting into a made bed at the end of your day? I don’t think so!

3. Make the most of this season

This time of year is so “go, go, go.” I set this goal to make sure that I am more mindful about my time so that I can enjoy myself instead of stressing. I am going to do activities that help me enjoy the season like bake cookies, look at Christmas lights, do Christmas crafts, and watch all of my <a

October is one of my favorite months of the year and to celebrate I am trying something fun and new here on Learning To Bloom! Welcome to Blogtober, where I will have a new post every day during the month of October! I’ve got so many fun posts planned for the month including fun outfit and decor ideas! I am excited to share my favorite time of the year with you through my posts about all of my favorite things! I’m starting the month off the way I always love to start each month by sharing 3 goals I have set for myself! These are simple and achievable goals to help build confidence in myself and my ability to achieve whatever I put my mind to! Three Goals for October 2022 1. Get dressed in my Spooky Season gear every day! Last year I did an outfit series completely inspired by Spooky Season and I have quite the collection of fun pieces that I only break out for October. I want to get the most use out of them this month so stay tuned for more outfit inspo for the season! 2. Drink at least two water bottles of water a day. Admittedly I am a proud Diet Coke addict but even I know that I should be drinking more water and less soda. In an effort to increase my water intake I plan on drinking two of these water bottles per day at least. Hoping to feel the benefits in my dry skin this time of year! 3. Complete Blogtober! I have so many fun posts planned. Keep an eye out on this space to share in the fun! Did you set goals for this month? Are you excited for Blogtober?

The post October Goals first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

October is one of my favorite months of the year and to celebrate I am trying something fun and new here on Learning To Bloom! I don’t know what it is about this time of year but it is the time that I feel the most energized and inspired to create content. It must be all the Pumpkin Spice Lattes… I just finished my first month as a full-time business owner and have decided to pivot what my business looks like. I signed up for a copywriting course and am so pumped for what is to come! I have also decided to try Blogtober this year and am having a lot of fun planning content for Spooky Season! Keep an eye on this space for all of the fun Fall and Halloween content you could ever want! Now, let’s talk monthly goals! I love setting small goals that can be achieved in a month’s time. The short-term deadline makes it easier to keep my interest and I get a little confidence boost every time I am able to achieve them! It’s a great way to get bigger tasks checked off my to-do list because I am actually making the time to focus on them. Share with me in the comments or over on Instagram if you like to set monthly goals for yourself! 1. Complete my copywriting course I have decided to do a pivot in my business and give copywriting a try. This excites me so much as I have loved writing since I was a kid. I just purchased the course on Monday and am so excited to immerse myself in the modules and get started on my ROI! 2. Time block work hours into my calendar I posted last week about my anxiety about the anxiety I am feeling as a full-time business owner and how I feel like I have to be productive and constantly in work mode. In an effort to combat the anxiety and the guilt I feel when I am not “working”, I am going to try time blocking with my calendar. We’ll see how I feel after a month. 3. Stretch every morning My body is showing its age more and more these days. I feel stiff and have various aches and pains that seem to be getting worse. I want to add a stretching routine to my morning routine to try and ease some of the stiffness and see if I can’t get to feeling better!

The post September Goals first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

The countdown to Fall is on and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s the beginning of my favorite time of the year! It’s the time of year when I feel the most inspired and I have so many fun things planned for the blog this month. I am looking forward to cooler weather, beautiful foliage, Jake’s birthday, and Halloween! 1. Wake up one hour earlier on weekdays I used to get up between 5 and 5:30 am and in the last few years, that time has crept up and sometimes I get up with just enough time to shower and leave for work. I long for slower mornings and I think waking up an hour earlier than I do currently will help with that. It’s not a ton of extra time but I think it will be just what I need to build some simple morning habits to help with my mindset. 2. Try one new recipe every week I have been wanting to get back into the kitchen and get inspired to cook again so I thought that setting a goal to try one new recipe a week would be a great place to start! 3. Share one positive thing about my day over on my IG stories I have been in a negative headspace for a while now and in an effort to try and flip the script in my head and get a little more confident showing my face in my IG stories, I have set a goal to share one positive thing about my day for the entire month of October!

The post 3 Goals for October first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

It’s SPOOKY Season! Share one positive thing about my day over on my IG stories

I have been in a negative headspace for a while now and in an effort to try and flip the script in my head and get a little more confident showing my face in my IG stories, I have set a goal to share one positive thing about my day for the entire month of October!

The post 3 Goals for October first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">2522</post-id>

3 Goals for August

Samantha

Goal Setting

Life

goals

learning to bloom

monthly goals

self-care

I’ve done a few of these types of posts this year and for the most part, I have achieved what I set out to do in those posts. The reason I like setting goals for each month is that the time period is short and the goals I set can be part of the stepping stones towards achieving a bigger goal I have. This month I am focusing on self-care habits and creating a routine that works for me. I am feeling in a funk right now and am trying to shake it off. I am hoping the goals below will help me with that. 1. Workout 3 times per week Back in May, I started walking every day at my lunchtime during work. I needed to do something to get away from my desk and clear my head. It allows my mind to recharge and is a boost for my mental health. While walking for me is a great way to move my body, I also want to feel stronger, and planning my week in which at least 3 days include a strength training workout does just that. It is something I have tried before and really enjoyed so this month I am setting my weeks up to include at least 3 workouts apart from my daily walks on my lunch break. 2. No social media past 8pm It is easy to get in the habit of mindlessly scrolling through your social media feeds. Before you know it 2 hours have passed and you aren’t even quite sure what you’ve seen, read, or even commented on. I find that then I sit and scroll, it is harder for me to avoid comparing my life to the highlight reel I am seeing unfold on my phone. When I am in a funk like I am currently, the worst thing I can do is go onto my Instagram but that seems to be what I like to do until late in the evening recently and I want to set a boundary for myself around how much I am consuming. 3. Journal 4 times per week If you read my goals for April, you’ll know that this was one that I set for then as well. I find journaling so helpful to empty my mind of negative thoughts and feelings. It helps to calm my mind and organize my thoughts. I am working on being more mindful and kind to myself and journaling helps me recognize my inner critic and put a stop to the negative narrative that is going on in my head. While I love a good brain dump, I also want to find a more constructive way to journal by way of writing prompts to see how that can help my mindset. Do you set monthly goals? I would love to hear some or all if you’re willing to share down in the comments or over at Learning to Bloom on Instagram!

The post 3 Goals for August first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

I’ve done a few of these types of posts this year and for the most part, I have achieved what I set out to do in those posts. I took another hiatus for personal reasons at the end of February and all of March but I am back for April with fresh new content and a new posting schedule! My new schedule will be every Monday and Friday and I hope, an increase in some Insta-content in between! Back in February, I set myself three attainable goals for the month. They were simple and I was able to achieve them by making small changes to my routine and I would consider the month a success! I enjoyed myself so much I decided to set 3 more goals for April! 1. JOURNAL AT LEAST 4 TIMES PER WEEK When I was a kid I filled diaries and journals with my thoughts, hopes, and dreams. As I got older I spent less and less time filling the pages. I used to carry a small notebook with me everywhere I went and would use it to make lists and plan blog content and every now and then I would go on a brain dump spree where I would write down anything that came to my mind. These little sessions always left me feeling more relaxed with a little more room in my brain to process the things that were going on in my life at the time. I’ve had a lot on my mind in recent months and I know that adding journaling to my routine will help to clear my head. 2. TAKE A PHOTO OF SOMETHING I LOVE EVERYDAY In an attempt to practice gratitude in a different way that writing a list and to capture more memories, I want to take a photo of something I love or something that brings me joy everyday for the month of April. 3. READ FOR 30 MINUTES AT LUNCH TIME I am trying to find more time to do things that I enjoy and using at least 30 minutes of my hour lunch to read seems like a great place to start! Do you set goals for yourself every month or do you just do yearly goals?

The post 3 Goals for April first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

Hi there! When February finally comes around, I feel like a whole year has passed already. That is a little dramatic, but it always feels like the longest month of the year and I just felt like setting some attainable goals for February would be just what I need to jump start the rest of this year! I decided not to set resolutions this year, but I like the idea of a few monthly goals to focus on. At this point in time, having some small goals to focus on will be helpful! 1. Pack lunch for work everyday Admittedly, I have been not the greatest at packing my lunch for work. A lot of times I will purchase snacks or whatever resembles a lunch from a convenience store on my way into work. I wanted to set this goal for a few reasons. The first being that it will help me to save more money, always a good reason! The second reason is I am just getting so bored with the selection and I know the things I am purchasing aren’t the best for my health. So, to help my pocketbook and my health I want to pack my lunch every workday for the next month! Hopefully, the habit will stick and continue after as well! 2. Move my body at least 3 times per week I have always been an all or nothing kind of person when it comes to working out. It is a mindset I have so desperately attempted to ditch for so long. The pressure I put on myself is so suffocating at times and I hope setting this attainable goal will help me relax and get my mindset shifted once and for all! Moving my body consistently is so important to me because it really helps to clear my head and it makes me feel better. In the spirit of prioritizing myself this year, this seemed like an appropriate goal. 3. Drink at least 3 glasses of water per day I am a self-confessed Diet Coke addict! I’m embarrassed to admit that there are some days where I don’t drink any water and before I get lectured, I know that’s not a good thing. In an attempt to up my water intake I want to strive to drink at least 3 glasses of water per day.

The post 3 Goals for February first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

January always seems NEVERENDING. In an attempt to up my water intake I want to strive to drink at least 3 glasses of water per day.

The post 3 Goals for February first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">2375</post-id>

Some Goals for the Rest of 2020

Samantha

Goal Setting

Life

goal digger

goal setting

goals

learning to bloom

It’s safe to say that 2020 has not turned out the way anyone imagined. It’s amazing how my motivation has ebbed and flowed throughout these months of lockdown but I decided last month that I really want to pull myself out of the fog and accomplish a few things throughout the rest of the year. Here are a few goals that I have for the rest of 2020, share one of your goals in the comments below so we can work towards them together! 1. Practice Daily Gratitude The women I follow who I find most inspiring rave about the mental health benefits of having a daily gratitude practice. I have attempted to develop a practice of my own but my execution has been lack luster at best. I have blocked in 10 minutes every evening right before bed to start and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here! 2. Bring consistent content to LTB Blogging has always made me happy and I really enjoy the creative outlet that it provides me as my 9 to 5 is a very data entry and problem solving based career. I want to keep up my momentum and keep posting consistently in my little corner of the internet! 3. Launch my side hustle Over the last year I have slowly but surely worked through a virtual assisting course in hopes of eventually being able to work for myself. The freedom working a freelance job is so alluring and something I think would work so great for my future family. I have a website in the works and my goal is to “open for business” by the end of December 2020. If you or someone you know is looking for email and calendar management or content writing or research services, send them my way!

The post Some Goals for the Rest of 2020 first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

It’s safe to say that 2020 has not turned out the way anyone imagined. I put myself on my first diet at the age of 14 (read more of my journey here) because I was convinced the only way I could be happier or more attractive in high school was if I lost weight. Dieting was what I was “supposed” to do. The media is constantly telling us that we must shrink our bodies to fit in and social media has inundated us with images of women we think we need to look like in order to be happy. It’s become trendy to add collagen to your coffee, drink celery juice and track every morsel that we put into our mouth and every step we take during the day in order to reach that goal of perfection. I’ve done it all (with the exception of the collagen and celery juice…ew.) and I became exhausted feeling like I was constantly at odds with my body because all of my wellbeing goals were based around shrinking or changing it in some way. Over the last few years, I have devoured books, blogs, Instagram accounts, and podcasts all on the topics of intuitive eating, body acceptance, body kindness, and body positivity. I made a decision to turn my back on diet culture and walk the path towards body kindness and acceptance because I was sick and tired of constantly berating myself for messing up on my diet or not sticking to my exercise regime. It has not been easy and I still struggle with a lot of guilt around food and how much I move my body but I would not change a thing. My goals have shifted into building more practical and sustainable habits and they have NOTHING to do with my appearance or weight. Let me be clear, I am trying to do what is best for me. I think it is up to everyone to do what is best for them and if setting a goal to lose weight is that then go for it! Do what makes you feel like the best version of you, just make sure you are going easy on yourself. If you are looking for something different when it comes to your wellbeing goals, here are a few ideas for some that you can set for yourself that are not appearance or weight loss based. 1. Write a personal mantra and post it somewhere that you can see it every day. Personal mantras are new to me but they can really help you in shifting your mindset. Post it on your bathroom mirror or the dashboard of your car, any place that you will be able to see it every day and recite it to yourself. Feel free to change it up too whenever the mood strikes! 2. Get outside. Being outside brings me instant calm. Getting outside even just a little bit each day can make the world of difference for your mental health. Take breaks at work to go for a quick walk or go for a hike on the weekend. There is nothing like being out in nature to make you feel grounded and at peace. 3. Set aside me-time at least once per week. It’s true what they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking time out for yourself once a week is NOT selfish, it is necessary. It gives you time to recharge and focus on just you even for a little bit. So take yourself out for a dinner date or just grab a cup of tea and your current read and spend some quality alone time with yourself! 4. Reduce screen time. In 2019, the average adult in America spends 3 hours and 10 minutes on their phone per day according to an eMarketer survey. That’s A LOT of screen time just on our phones alone, not taking into account our computers, tablets, or television screens. Reducing screen time can help in a lot of different facets of your life including improved mental health, increased human connection, and your ability to get a good night’s sleep. Try to set a time every evening to “switch off.” It is recommended to do so about an hour before you want to sleep which makes this a great time to get your evening routine done. If you’re feeling really adventurous try going offline on the weekends for half a day to see how you feel! 5. Curate your social media feeds. Since we spend so much time on our devices, it is only natural that we spend the majority of that time on social media. I have made it a point to go through both my Facebook and Instagram accounts and unsubscribe or unfollow accounts that do not make me feel good about myself. When I first began doing this I removed a bunch all at once. After that I removed as I go and unfollow or mute accounts or people that don’t spark joy (how Marie Kondo of me!). I recommend filling these feeds with accounts that life you and others up and accounts that don’t constantly demonstrate impossible body standards. Social media shouldn’t be something that makes you feel worse after looking at it, it should inspire you and make you feel more positive. I would recommend doing this to everyone! Go ahead…you can thank me later!

The post Wellbeing Goals That Are Not Based on Your Appearance or Weight first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

When we think of our wellbeing it is common for us to set goals that are centered around our aesthetics or the number on the scale. Go ahead…you can thank me later!

The post Wellbeing Goals That Are Not Based on Your Appearance or Weight first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">1110</post-id>

Goal A Month: January

Samantha

Goal Setting

Life

a goal a month

goal getter

goal setting

goals

january

morning person

I shared a little bit in a previous post about how I am approaching goals for 2019. The plan is to create healthy habits that build up to help me reach the larger goals I have for myself. To do this, I have created a plan for each month and each habit I hope to develop. I’ve also made it a point to tap into my “why power” to really get to the heart of why I want to develop this habit. By doing this I have built in motivation! For January, I really wanted to focus on becoming an early riser. A few years ago, I got up early no problem. I find that getting up early really helps me get into a positive head space. I have time to workout, eat breakfast, pack my lunch, and shower and it makes me feel like I’ve already accomplished so much before I walk through the doors at the office. When I decided to get started on developing this habit, I began by planning out a routine for the morning time but soon realized that a solid routine in the evening is also necessary. I have identified four nightly rituals that I am going to use to alert my body that it is time to settle down for the night. On top of these four rituals, I am trying to put my phone down about an hour before bed. To be quite honest, this nightly routine has been the hardest part to get started on. I still have difficulty switching off but I am trying. Tonight is a new night so to speak and there is not time like the present to work on the things that are important to you. I’m feeling pretty good about January so far. Getting up before the sun is hard especially in these dark, cold winter months but remembering why I want to create this habit has helped on the motivation front! I can’t wait to share more of my monthly goals with you on this platform this year! What goals have you set for yourself this year?

The post Goal A Month: January first appeared on Learning to Bloom.

I shared a little bit in a previous post about how I am approaching goals for 2019.
