Favorite Holiday Films

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, my favorite place to be during the holidays is snuggled up on my couch with a warm blanket, a cup of tea, my husband, my cat while watching a Christmas movie! I have watched many Christmas movies over the years and there are those select few that I always have to watch! I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite films to watch during this time of year!

Christmas Vacation

“Surprised, Eddie?… If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised.”

Clark Griswold, Christmas Vacation

Nothing kicks off the Christmas season quite like watching Clark Griswold attempt to orchestrate his good old fashioned family Christmas! I watch this movie first EVERY year.

The Santa Clause

“Seeing isn’t believing, believing is seeing. Kids don’t have to see this place to know that it’s here.”

Judy the elf, The Santa Clause

My brother and I watched this movie so many times when we were kids. It is one of those feel-good movies and it makes Christmas feel so magical. Definitely one to see if you haven’t!

The Family Stone

“Christmas is not “clothing optional” this year – we have a guest. “

Sybil Stone, The Family Stone

If you are looking for a family movie that makes you laugh and cry, sometimes all at once, this is the holiday movie for you! It’s full of great actors and I really love the family element in this movie!

Home Alone

” No, for three reason: A, I’m not that lucky. Two, we use smoke detectors and D, we live on the most boring street in the whole United States of America, where nothing even remotely dangerous will happen. Period. “

Buzz McCallister, Home Alone

This movie is funny from beginning to end. I always wince when Harry and Marv are going through all of Kevin’s booby traps but you also can’t help but laugh especially when that tarantula gets set onto Marv’s fave! His scream kills me every single time!

White Christmas

“When what’s left of you gets around to what’s left to be gotten, what’s left to be gotten won’t be worth getting, whatever it is you’ve got left.”

Phil Davis, White Christmas

This movie is such a classic! I love a good musical and I especially love a musical set during Christmastime! Bing Crosby has that beautiful voice and when he sings White Christmas I always melt!

A Christmas Story

” With as much dignity as he could muster, the Old Man gathered up the sad remains of his shattered Major Award. Later that night, alone in the backyard, he buried it next to the garage. Now I could never be sure, but I thought that I heard the sound of “Taps” being played. Gently.”

Adult Ralphie, A Christmas Story

This is my ULTIMATE Christmas movie! PBS used to play it for 24 hours on Christmas day and we always watched it several times. It wouldn’t be the Christmas season without watching Ralphie’s quest to get a red rider BB gun with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time!
