Simple DIY Twine-Wrapped Christmas Trees

Sometimes I find it hard to get into the Christmas spirit this time of year. One thing that always gets me in a festive mood, though, is a fun craft project! These were inspired by something I saw over on Pinterest, and I love how easy they were to make. Luckily, I had everything I needed for this project on hand in my craft supply collection, but these are still so affordable to make. They are also so easy to customize to match your Christmas color scheme! I love how these turned out, and I hope you give them a try too! See how I made them below!

Supplies:

Cardboard
Twine (jute & butchers twine)
Metallic Scrapbook paper (optional)
Red Felt (optional)
Hot glue and hot glue gun
Festive floral pieces (optional)
Ribbon (optional)
Small wooden tumbling tower blocks (Mine are from The Dollar Tree)

Method:

Cut your cardboard into various-sized “tree” shapes.
Secure the start of your twine to the back of your first tree. Begin wrapping the twine around the cardboard tree. For the first three wraps around, I did lines of glue on the back and dots of glue at three points on the front to secure the twine in place. Be sure to use a small amount on the front so it doesn’t come through the twine. Continue to wrap tightly around the tree until you reach the top. Secure the twine on the back using more hot glue.
Add your decorations. I cut out stars on metallic paper and some red felt I had on hand. I also wrapped various trees with different colors of twine, and then on some, I added small berries and glittering balls from some festive floral picks that I had on hand.
Create a base by gluing two of the wooden blocks together and then gluing them to the back of each tree. You can bend the cardboard slightly to help the trees stand if needed.
