DIY Decor: Clay Ghosts

I love little handmade knick-knacks this time of year. These little clay ghosts were inspired by some Pinterest posts I saw earlier this Summer. I have never worked with oven bake clay before and I wanted to give it a try. I loved this project so much that I tried the oven bake clay with my sandworm tails too! These little guys can double as tea light holders but they also look good on their own. Check out how I made them below!

DIY Decor: Clay Ghosts

Supplies:

  • Oven Bake Clay (I got mine here)
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Rolling Pin
  • Something to poke holes in the clay
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchmet Paper
  • White acrylic paint

Method:

  1. Preheat oven according to package insturctions.
  2. Divide your clay into equal size balls.
  3. Start by rolling each ball out flat on a until about 1/4″ thick. Form your foil into a ball, roughtly the size of a tealight candle.
  4. Drape your rolled out clay over the foil balls you made in the last step.
  5. Start draping the clay in various formations over the foil balls to make it look like an actual blanket is draping.
  6. Using your poking tool, create a cute little face on the ghost, transfer to a baking sheet.
  7. Bake your clay according to the insturctions on the side of the packet.
  8. Once out of the oven and cooled, paint your ghost with white acrylic paint. I did two coats on each ghost.

Let’s be friends!
